Scotia didn't want to admit it, but she was lost. She'd been going for a walk in the forest when she spotted a rabbit. Thinking it would make for a good meal, she chased after it. Unfortunately, for all her trouble and nearly catching it, it managed to run into its burrow. She dug at it for a couple of minutes before giving up. Even if she did manage to dig into the deep burrow, the rabbit surely had other escape routes and could just use one of them to get away from the dog. Noticing that it was almost dark, she decided to head back.
Now here she was, lost in the forest, with night quickly approaching. She couldn't remember the way she came, having been too focused on catching the rabbit. The Flat-Coated Retriever wandered through the forest, jumping at every noise she heard. She didn't really want to have to sleep in the forest, not with her just moving here and not knowing the area. But if she had to, she would. She jumped again as her paws clumsily stepped on a twig. She spun around, eyes wide and teeth bared, ready to attack whomever might be sneaking up on her. She then realized that it was only her and relaxed, an embarrassed look on her face.
She turned back around and continued on, getting hopelessly lost as she tried to backtrack her way home. She hoped that she'd come across someone soon who perhaps knew the way out. At this moment, she could care less about whether the person would be nice or not. As long as they knew how to get out of this place, she didn't care who they were.

274 WORDS NOTES Hope you don't mind me jumping in! ^^ | Must we hide from everyone? | | Anubis wandered through the woods, his golden eyes flicking every which way. The woods were always so relaxing to him; the cool breeze always kept him awake. His black coat blended seamlessly with the dark, though it wasn't his intention to hide.
The Pharaoh Hound looked into the distance, and noticed another canine. A female, by the looks of her. But what kind, Anubis had no clue. What is she doing here? He couldn't recall anyone else ever passing through here willingly. Many canines believed the woods to be haunted, but Anubis never saw it that way.
Feeling like he should interact with her and figure out her purpose in being in the woods, Anubis darted ahead. He ran to the side of her, staying out of view until slowing down and walking out in front of her. He had to look somewhat eerie here; a solid black dog with a thin build, and gleaming gold eyes. Anubis took great pride in his appearance.
He eyed the female, who was still a bit of a distance away. He raised his head, his body still but his eyes fixated on her. "You don't seem too familiar," he said, a brow raised. Anubis had an exotic accent; he got it from his parents, who were from Egypt.
Despite Pharaoh Hounds not being from Egypt, he was the son of a breeding pair owned by a designer breeder. Pharaoh Hounds were not naturally black-coated, but this breeder managed to crossbreed for coat color while maintaining the Pharaoh Hound look. He often sold them to owners who believed they were "descendants of the pharaoh's dogs". What lies. |

Scotia stopped as a figure walked out in front of her. Was he real or just a ghost? She had heard stories after all, about the woods being haunted. Yet she had wandered in anyways. Typical of her to do things without thinking things through. She would preferred the figure to be real. That way she could be sure of her sanity, sure that she wasn’t seeing things. Some individuals tended to do that when they were scared, their minds taking advantage of the fear and turning things into monsters. But she didn’t believe in ghosts, so she knew that he wasn’t one. She took a couple steps forward, hoping that he was nice. She’d heard stories about vicious dogs that would eat dogs like her, but she preferred to think that he wasn’t one of those. His voice proved that he was, indeed, real. Her ears pricked forward, intrigued by his accent.
“I’m new here. Haven’t been around for very long.” She said. In the dim light, the hound did seem eerie, seeming to fit into the darkness like a shadow. Any other dog may have stayed away from him, but she wasn’t like other dogs. No, being a former pet had made her naive, inclined to believe that others wouldn’t hurt someone like her. She still had yet to figure out that wasn’t the case. There would always be those who would see her as someone easy to take advantage of, someone easy to kill. "My name's Lydia. What's yours?" Growing up, she'd always been taught to be polite.
She took another couple of steps forward, her feathered tail swishing happily. Maybe this dog knew a way out. "I hate to say this, but I'm lost. Would you happen to know the way out?"

Anubis - Male - 4 Years Old - Pharaoh Hound Anubis watched this female closely as she approached. Upon first glance, she appeared to be a sort of retriever, but Anubis wasn't about to jump to any conclusions just yet. He eyed her carefully, making sure she showed no signs of aggression. Though any remaining cautions were put away when the female introduced herself as Lydia.
"Mmm, Lydia. That is a beautiful name. Quite fitting," she said, getting a bit sidetracked. He sat on his haunches, still quite a bit taller than the female. "My name is Anubis. God of the Dead," he said, quite proudly.
She asked about knowing the way out. He shrugged, the corner of his mouth pulling into a smirk. "There is no set way out. You see, the key to escaping this forest is to pick a single direction and travel in that direction until you're out. That is why many get lost and die here. They are spooked by the numerous rumors of spirits and demons and run every which way until they starve to death and become a rumor themselves," he said, his golden eyes unblinking.
