and who do you think you are, running round leavin' scars, collecting your jar of heart, and tearing love apart. The brown shepherds paws touched the dock's floors and she knew exactly what she needed to do. Though she was a pack dog, there wasn't much hunting that could be done for her. She needed to be able to obtain her own food, and with this big round belly of hers, well that just wasn't going to happen. Her white chest and paws were muddied from the long trek over here, but right now it was the only way to get food - the humans. As much as she resented the decision, she needed to eat. Not only for herself, but for the pups growing inside of her. There was no more time to be selfish.
The world had been so unfair to her. Constantly taking away all the things she had loved. Well the one thing. The male she thought would be there to take care of her, though he just spent one night, and then he was gone. Leaving her alone with all the puppies growing inside her belly. Don't get it wrong, she loved those little unborn creatures, but she was only three. She wasn't ready quite yet to be a mother, let alone one without any friends or mate to help her through it. There was just..well..Her. Pinning her ears making her best "puppy dog" face, she barked at the edge of the dock. A few younger men saw her and pointed. They ran back inside their boat then popped back out, throwing her a few slices of bread and meat.
It wasn't much - but it was something. She wasn't able to hunt and the pack was still in the process of being created. This was the only thing she could do. She scavenged with other boats until she had eaten her fill, then trotted back to the end of the deck. Her belly rocked from side to side with each step, the pups would be coming soon. Ears pulled back against her head, she laid down in the shade of one of the docks. Her view was pointed out onto the lake and every once in a while, a passer by would toss her some more food. It was a lonely and lousy life - but until the pups came, there was nothing else out there for her.

(If you're okay with this. My oc Liz could use a friend too)
Liz had been watching the pregnant sheperd ever since she'd seen her at the meeting. Liz's own life had been very hard. Her father died a couple months after she'd been born, and then her mother had left her near a rest stop. A family of humans, with two kids, had picked her up. She lived with them until she was about a year and a half, then they went on vacation. They were only supposed to be gone a week, but they never came back. She stayed for a few more months before she finally left the home.
As she traveled later, she had difficulty making friends. She was a great dane and she always watching what she was doing. Most of the time she was fairly clumsy.
Slowly, she padded over to the sheperd. "Would you like some company?"

and who do you think you are, running round leavin' scars, collecting your jar of heart, and tearing love apart. The female caught the scent of another in the area before she saw her come into view. She was moving hesitantly as though she didn't know how she was supposed to act around another canine. The shepherd wanted to give a small laugh. This canine was much bigger than her and she herself was carrying puppies making her more vulnerable than the humans themselves. There was no reason for anyone to be afraid of her. Soon enough, the Dane came into view and she recognized her from the pack they had both recently joined. Would you like some company? She asked and the pregnant female gave a small smile. "Sure, take a seat." She barked, her tail flicking lightly at the tip. She was always welcome for a little company, it was always good to make friends, especially when soon you wouldn't be able to support yourself. That was why she was here - and when the puppies were born she was going to need more support than she was getting with the humans. "I'm Willow." She told the canine, flicking her tail lightly as she waited for the other female to reveal her name.TAG: aragwain WORDS: 194 NOTES: No problem(:

Liz nodded and settled down beside the sheperd, her own tail flicking a little. She laid her head down on her paws, and she listened as the other canine told her that her name was Willow. "I'm Liz. How far are you?" Liz asked nodding toward the other female's stomach. She been pregnant once, but the puppies had all been stillborn. "I'd be happy to offer you some help with them when they finally get here. Well, and now of course if you wanted it. You joined Franc' s pack, right? I thought you looked familiar." There were times when Liz was as quiet as a mouse was when it was sneaking past a cat in order to reach the cheese. But there were also other times when she just didn't know when to be quiet.

The Shepherd smiled as the Great Dane made herself comfortable and just began talking and yipping away. Willow didn't mind though. She was happy for the company and someone to give her some time to just relax and listen for much. Being pregnant, everyone wanted to know about her, about the father, about the pups and all in all, it was a touchy and sensitive topic. One she didn't want to dig too far into, and most dogs these days weren't willing to accept that. Her ears gave a light twitch when Liz quieted down and looked at her expectantly. Obviously expecting her to answer her questions.
The female let out a light laugh before answering. "Any day now." She told the Great Dane, pressing her nose gently against her belly and felt the tiny paws kicking at her nose. "They are so big, I'm getting sick of moving around with them." It was true, every day her stomach felt heavier and the pups never seemed to stop squirming. It was obvious they needed to just, be born, and bring her into the next stage of being a mother. At least now she would have to comfort of the pack. When Liz told her she would be willing to help, Willow gave a friendly smile and a few thumps of her tail. "I would like that a lot. I could probably use all the help I can get!" She yipped humorously, swiveling her ears and looking back at the water. "Have you ever had a mate?" She asked, flicking her ears nervously before casting a side glance to the Great Dane.

Liz nodded as she listened to the other answering her questions. When Willow asked her if she'd ever had a mate, she let her head hang. She hadn't thought about him in a long time. Slowly, she nodded. "Yes, I once had a mate. I'd been living with this nice family in a wonderful neighborhood. One day, I met the neighbor's dog. He was a sheperd like you, but I can't remember what kind. We played around and before I knew it, I was pregnant. They never moved much. I should've known. But they were born stillborn. All four of them. Shortly afterwards, he left along with his family and then my own went too." Liz told her and looked over at Willow offering a weak smile and thump of her tail.

As Willow listened to the Great Dane's story, she couldn't help but feel horrible. She only wanted to start a conversation, not dig so deep into the other canines memory. Her ears fell and she lowered her head, feeling the anxiety roll off the other females fur. They had such similar, terrible tales. When her story had finished, Liz offered Willow a sad, obviously forced smile and a weak thump of the tale. It was only fair that she give her newly made friend a story too, right? Her ears flicked and she turned her chocolate hues over to the other dog. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to stir up such horrible memories." She barked gently, ears pinning back to her head to express her emotion at the subject.
After a few moments she lifted her ears and touched her nose to her belly, waiting for the gentle kicks that she knew would come. "These little guys were an accident." She murmured gently, Tail lifting slightly in a gentle wag. "Thought I loved their daddy, but the second he found out about them he fled. Never to be seen again." Her ears pinned and she shok her head again. "Damned males." A light grin pooled onto her face and she gave Liz a smile. "However, these pups are the best mistake that's ever happened to me. I'm not alone anymore, and with them, i'll never be alone again." There was a hint of pride and understanding in her eyes. An emotional feeling overwhelmed and her and suddenly, she knew that as long as these beings inside her survived, she would never be lonely again.

Liz shook her head quickly once the sheperd started apologizing to her. She nudged her head gently with her nose, offering a light smile. "Don't worry about it. It felt nice actually be able to tell someone about it." Liz nodded laying her head back on her paws as she listened to Willow tell her story. She had to give a soft smile when Willow cursed the males. Liz smiled and nodded slightly. "There's nothing quite like the feeling we get when our puppies are around. The feeling of motherhood. Besides, you're not alone anymore anyways." Liz barked softly, lifting her tail and wagging it.
