Ah, the park, such a decent place to spend his time. And the fact that the moon was full was only tugging at his vocal cords to call, to summon, oh he needed to kill something so bad. And it was human he was aiming for. Just sitting on the bench by her lonesome self was a young girl, probably a little older than a cub in the human sense. He could taste the anxiety rolling off her in waves and he knew just what he wanted to do. He sat there for a minute, pin-pointing like most serial-killers would. What does her blood taste like? Oh, the things I could do with those lovely body parts she has. Such beautiful eyes. This hunt was going to be a fun one, but of course, he had to scare her silly first.
Waiting for the perfect moment he raised his head to the moon, letting out a shrill, skin-crawling howl. He wasn't like a wolf- born with that beautiful howl. He was a coyote and his howl signaled something was dead and he'd found it, a summoning to the other coyotes in his pack - if he had had any - or that something was about to die. Today, he had chosen the third option. When his howl died down, he could now catch a fear scent in the air. The human pup was looking round wildly, though she didn't get up and run. Perfect. The sly coyote hugged the trees, weaving until he was only a foot or two from the bench the human was perched on. Then he let out another howl. This time, it was a matter of seconds before the human jumped up. But, she didn't scream.
"Such a good, little girl." He sneered, though to her it was a light throated snarl. And then he booked it after her. He was easily faster and before she could cross the street, he pounced. Her head smashed against the cement, and seemed to knock her unconscious or she was playing dead like some did, thinking it would spare their lives. Maybe with some other canine, but not Archer, he liked them any way. Grabbing the young, human pups pant leg, he dragged her back into the shade of the bushes, making sure that no one could see him. He then began licking at the blood that surrounded her head. No, he wanted her awake before he killed her.

It was hardly natural for a coyote to spend so much time near humans.
Or so Saffron thought. The lithe, thin figure slipped soundlessly through the crowd, weaving in and out of the flowing and ebbing tide of humans. She kept her large ears flattened to her head uneasily, beautiful, glittering eyes sweeping side to side warily.
She had chosen to come during the night, where she had been sure that there would be less people around. Which was true - but strangely enough, there was still a sizable amount of humans mingling, under the cold, white light of the full moon.
Well, this wasn't exactly a pleasure trip. It was, in a sense that nobody had asked her to come... but well. Saffron just thought it best. Since her new pack lived so closely with humans, the young coyote rather thought that she should get used to mingling with them sooner, rather than later.
A bone-chilling howl arced above the suddenly silent park, causing Saffron's fur to stand on end, prickling above her spine. A coyote's howl - rare, since she hadn't spotted any of her other kind here.
Her head swung to that direction, eyes narrowing as she loped stiffly towards the source of the howl. It had been harsh with pent-up aggression and hunger, and combined with the crowd of humans - it didn't exactly bode well for anybody.
The scent of blood grew stronger, the closer she got, and it seemed to lead right under the bushes. The scents of coyote were the strongest there - aggressively male - and Saffron shivered in trepidation, glancing uncertainly at her lame leg.
But she could hardly just leave!
Squaring her shoulders, Saffron gathered herself, prowling closer, before jumping and trying to impose herself in between the grey canine and the human - cub(?).
She landed stiffly, eyes gleaming furiously in the low light, as she kept her head tilted at an angle to eye the coyote with her good eye.
"Keep away from her," she snarled furiously, fangs flashing in the darkness.
The little human pup (since most canines don't know the word 'kid' and young for them are pups/cubs) was beginning to stir when suddenly a female through herself at him. The male reacted just how must would, letting out a sharp snap of his jaws and raising his claws to slash at the female, forcing her to take the impact or simply back the hell off. He was a bit larger than her, though not by much. His hackles raised as he stepped his two front paws over the tiny human, so that his belly was over and it was securely under his legs. Keep away from her. The she coyote was howling and the male let out a husky laugh. He could tell just by her scent that she was Decus and she was trying to protect this puny life-force.
He gave his ears a light twitch in his own amusement. "Such a shame." He remarked, his voice sounding a little disappointed in the female. "We are probably some of the only coyotes on this land and we are on opposite forces." He shook his head again, letting out the false work of what was it - sadness? That he had seen Phantasm do so many times. He was the trainee, he had to learn these things if he were going to be successful. "However, while it is your nature to protect, it is mine to feed. And I will mention..." His voice lowered and he raised his eyes to stare right into the greens of the female. "Though I don't favor coyote over human, I won't mind taking a few bites." There was that smirk and sneer that he was so well known for in being a coyote.
The male raised his tail slightly, body arching into a dominant and - obviously - aggressive stance. He arched his ears up (since it's how his name was earned, anywho) taking slow, steady steps away from his human meal and toward the female coyote in front of him. With the way she moved, he could tell one of her legs was injured, though so far, he didn't know which one until she began to move again. Her eye, however, oh that was going to make this much more fun. Tail flicking in it's arch, he paced toward her, making sure that he was hugging her blind side (if she was actually blind in it, that is.) He would use it his advantage by bouncing toward her and nipping at her flanks then taking a few paces back, waiting until her good eye was turned around before he would run back in, the nipping gradually getting more powerful. While all the wile he was driving her back end toward a set of trees, where, he could corner her and bring her down.
